Saturday

My child woke up this morning and started licking the dog back. EEEWWWWW! In it's mouth too. He laughs when the dog licks him, maybe thought he'd return the joy! I can't even watch.
Barry camped out in his friends back yard. Adrian and I slept in the big bed until he kept kicking me, then he slept in his own bed till 4:30. Now he's playing in the shoe closet and singing to himself.
Brewfest today if we ever get out of the house...who wants to be drinking beer at 10am though?

Summer Lovin'

So Uncle Hayride's left for the mighty outdoors he lives in. He will be hiking the Continental Divide Trail now; all 500 miles of it. He made some delicious SpIcY chili (his specialty) for us although it was not nearly spicy enough for him so he added extra chopped habaneros to his bowl! The baby (as I still call Adrian) thought one bean was enough for him. Hehehe.

Adrian is having a blast being outdoors all the time. He loves his pets and 'meows' now. So freakin adorable it gives Barry and me the giggles. He blows real rasberries and is 'talking' more and can mimic sounds sometimes. Yesterday it sounded like 'i love you'. He knows about his belly and finds his mommy's too. Still just crawling but sooo very fast! He can reach the door handle and tries to open it to escape to the outdoors. Climbs on Everything!

Tonight Adrian took a bath with his girlfriend's Lexi and Jackie (older girls at that). He enjoyed brushing their teeth with his toothbrush (I swear he's going to be a dentist).

Tomorrow is BrewFest!!! We're going. Then Sunday is our Mom's/Baby's Group in Estes. Then our weekend will be over :(

Father's Day

Daddy, Adrian, Great Uncles Hayride and Wally-Camping June 2009

Summer has begun! Happy Father's Day to all dads!
We went camping for two nights at Pinegree Park. Barry's Uncle Hayride made it to town on Friday night and then I picked him up to go camping with us on Sat night. He treated us to steaks for camping. Aunt Laurie came on Friday night but stayed home sick on Sat night. Today we had a little BBQ at the house. We're all super tired from camping! It rained a lot last night and then the wind was whipping the tarps around for hours. Adrian was out of his element at night and was cranky, off schedule, and even cried for almost an hour last night! I ended up snuggling him into my sleeping bag because I guess laying next to me just wasn't close enough. The night before I ended up on his sleeping bag and he in mine. Ha! He absolutely loves the outdoors and understands 'no' but tests limits. He attempted to touch the fire on multiple occasions and patting the hot grill is btw not hot I guess. Scaaarrry and no lesson learned either.
Big Oops: I moved the fan too close to his bed and he stuck his finger in it and sliced it open (when he was supposed to be napping after we came back to the house to pick up Uncle Hayride/Greg). Blood everywhere: head, ear, mouth, toe, and finally I figured it out...his right index finger was sliced! I felt horrible b/c it was all my fault. I still don't know how he got his finger in the teeny holes. And he hates band aids-eventually chewed two off but at least the bleeding had stopped.

Well here are some fun pictures from this morning!

Starting "kisses" in the car today. He puckers and smacks his lips. Also can clack his tongue...pretty cute...like when we call the dogs. He gets so proud of himself too! He is fighting is AM naps these days, but needs them still.

Message from Great Uncle Hayride

I'll be leaving GA this Thursday morning. We should get to Fort Collins by Saturday. My friend Jimmy is continuing on to Oregon the next day by himself. Can't wait to see everybody - especially Adrian. See you all soon, Hayride

Received Today!!! WooHOO!

June 12th

Maui Grandma Walking on the Beach

Adrian's Banana Tree-1 Month Old

Napping Right After Dinner for Dad

Today and Yesterday Adrian's Grandpa (and later Grandma) watched him at our house. He's had a temp and runny nose and I can feel 2 bottom molars coming in. Poor baby...I can't wait till he's done teething. Every time he gets the fever, runny nose and just feels awful. Of course I don't sleep either.

Weekend plans may include camping tomorrow after I get bloodwork done for dr. appt. Why? I never go to the doctor and now that I have insurance I decided to act like a middle class citizen with insurance and get myself to a doctor appt for no good reason except that I can. Ha! Wonder how long that will last. I am also going to the Farmer's Market which starts for the season tomorrow! Then I'll meet Barry if he decides to still go get a campsite in the Poudre Canyon.
And now a word from Adrian:

13 Months Now (as of June 1st)

I'm Big, That's Why!
Adrian got a package in the mail from Gma and Gpa in Maui! He has new outfits, a wooden HI puzzle, a turtle story, a Nene and Iiwi bird that make real sounds-he immedietely hugged and rocked them, the cutest little woven kid sized backpack and Island alphabet flashcards! He's wearing his Honu-turtle-outfit today (well he was wearing his He'e-octopus-one but he blueberried it up).
After blueberry pancakes and yogurt, Adrian followed me around with the vacuum cord 'helping'. He can't decide if he's scared of the vacuum or not but sure likes to help out!
Today we are going to hang out with our friends Audra and Fabien and her friend. We're probably going to go downtown Ft Collins to check out the Oak St fountains! Finally nice out again!

Cows and Ducks...Oh My!

'Little man' recieved a package in the mail from his Aunt Ronnie today! He had fun playing with his cow fish and GIANT rubber ducky in the tub! He also tested out G'ma's cows for her.
More news: Uncle Hayride will be out in mid June! He will get to meet Adrian and plans on hiking the Continental Divide Trail starting in CO.
Other news: Adrian now signs 'all done' AND 'MORE'. He is starting to pick up signs faster as well as mimics words. Today he was mimicking 'kiss' and giving me wide open mouth smooches. He can also sniff and bites his lip while he sniffs. He was sniffing flowers on our evening stroll today. He is starting to drink whole milk and of course I buy organic for him! I got the DHA fortified stuff and it is so tasty! We are mixing it in his bottles for now but soon he will just get whole milk. (Why they make formula for up to 24 months now makes me wonder though.) He is starting to eat more and more big boy food. Tonight was stew that simmered in the slow cooker all day. Yum! He had 2nds and 3rds. He loves to stab blueberries and beans with his fork and can eat cereal and yogurt with his spoon (until that gets boring and he decides to throw things on the floor to see what the dogs will do.) At G'ma's they have screaming matches and it is often quite loud when I go over there. I can't handle screaming and encourage singing which also sounds like yelling from Adrian but at least I sing the words until he learns them. Barry was sad today when Adrian LOVES to go to his aunt, uncle, gpa and gma and not to him. I told him it's probably b/c he knows he gets to go home with him but aunts, uncles, gpa and gmas are special (and probably spoil him more). I notice the same thing when I'm there...he'll yell to me that he wants to be held by someone else over me when they're around (unless he's sleepy or hungry.) I don't take it personally though. Adrian's awesome at balance and physical space and waits until he's good and ready before moving to the next milestone which is why he's still waiting to take his first steps or even stand unassisted. I'm not worried although it's a common question we hear. He sure is a climber though...climbs onto couches, fireplace, computer chair and desk, dad, mom, dogs, playtables...you name it and he'll try to climb it....He's got great balance and has only fallen once down the stairs a long time ago and rarely falls off anything unless he sits backwards and doesn't realize he's on the edge (not often-although this evening 3x into the lavender off the front stoop-at least he smells good). Oh yeah, Dr. appt for 1 year well check yesterday went well. He weighs 21.8 lbs(20th %ile) and is 31" long (75th %ile)! Tall skinny boy! He got a Hib booster shot, the 1st MMR shot and the Prevnar booster. I did not get the chicken pox or the HepA which is fairly new. We can wait on those to decide. He did great this time-no fever, just sore legs and crankiness in the evening. All day though with G'ma and G'pa he was laughing and happy and ate well!
Anyways...it's been raining the last couple days and hopefully the weekend will be sunny! We are not feeling ship shape in the household these days. Sore throat, upset tummy and headaches not too mention lack of enough sleep.
