Camping

Took Adrian on his first camping trip on Friday! He ate a lot of dirt, sticks and rocks...but what's new. We went to Pinegree Park and set up a nice site. Barry slept in his hammock outside and and Adrian and I shared the tent...tried sharing a sleeping bag but that didn't work out as well. I did not get much sleep. Adrian was definitely more aware of his surroundings once it got dark and at one point looked out into the dark and started crying. He's a scaredy cat like his mom...hahaha...

Yesterday was a birthday bbq bash for the babies in my first mom's group. They all turned one around April/May and all the families had a fun time celebrating together and catching back up. I've only attended once or twice since I had to start working full time in Oct and most of the guys haven't seen each other much since it's a "mom's group". It was great!

Right now Adrian's sitting in a box in the office craft closet pulling all the paintbrushes out.

More Teeth Maybe...

Poor baby...I think he's teething but he's been running a fever all day and cranky. Then this evening he started throwing up so it might not just be teething. Or his fever could have caused it. I don't know...I've taken off work tomorrow since I don't want to get Amber's kids sick..although he was there today...hopefully it's just teething. We want to go camping this weekend but we'll see...

Our one year old is so big now. He's smart and starting to test his boundaries. He especially likes to throw his spoon on the floor but he won't eat unless he has his own spoon. He likes to get a reaction from hitting...we're working on being 'gentle' as well as encouraging people not to laugh when he does something we do not want to encourage.

Adrian took his first steps with a walker all by himself the other day. He likes to put lids off and on jars thanks to his g'pa teaching him how. H'es a climber and gets upset now when he can't get up on something. Another first...he's taking bottles for Amber!

Cousin Cavyn loves Adrian! We spent time last Saturday at cousin's house. Then mommy got to go out with her friend. Daddy spent the night in Red Feather but missed mommy and especially baby, for his first night away.

What else?...My brain is melting so that's all I have right now.

Saturday Excursions

Adrian is so big. He's been practicing making new noises and sounds....specifically inhaling air with a high pitch or saying 'mmmmmmmmmm' like humming. I am trying to teach him to blow kisses. He now claps. Don't know why it took so long or why he only does it in the car but at least he knows he can. He is quite whiney these days...could be the new bottom teeth looking like coming in sideways. Better start saving for braces now. Also his sleep is messed up...which means my sleep is messed up. We've been trying to practice walking but if you hold him up he just wants to sit. I've discovered that if if I hold under his arms and walk fast while saying 'run run run run', he pumps his legs and runs around...slowly he's getting used to just walking when we do this. He's so steady with balance and everything that when he does decide to walk he'll just take off! I think he takes after Barry athletically...Barry's pretty good at everything he tries! Still saying 'gog' gat' 'dada' 'mama' but also 'ga' means gpa and he babbles incessantly about all sorts of things like 'lala' 'baba' 'nana' and such. He loves our pets and gets so excited to see them in the morning or when they are outside. Another thing is that he LOVES the outdoors; if a door is open he's outside in a split second.

Had a good weekend! Went to the park on Saturday and Target with Cousin Cavyn who is such a big boy these days. Adrian still is learning the concept of 'gentle' and may laugh as he smacks others in the face or gets a reaction from 'ow'! I try to ignore, move him or myself, and/or say 'be gentle' and show him how, in order to not give him lots of attention for negative behaviors but also to let him know that he won't get my attention for being rough. I think he gets attention for it once in awhile and so he continues to try to 'attack' for the surprised 'ow!' he sometimes gets.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies! We didn't do much, hung out and got some pizza from Pulcinella's. I bought Adrian a book for Mother's Day called "I Love You Forever' and then I read it to him today. It made me cry. Barry called me a dork and so did Julie but you try reading it to your baby and tell me it isn't emotional.

Perfect Fit for a little boy...we'll call it his new playroom! P.S. He must not have any toys if this is what he has to resort to(HA)

Birthday Update!

So yes...we are proud parents of a 1 year old! I know the days and weeks fly by but the year has been a busy long one and we've enjoyed every moment!

For Barry's bday we had a traditional polish dinner at mom's and then he got to go out with his auntie!! His present from Adrian and me is a tattoo of Adrian's newborn footprints on his forearm...we might get it this weekend! Also set reservation for Rodizios for Thursday which we rescheduled due to party planning...then his sis took us out to eat there on Sunday eve instead! Ronnie spoils us all whenever she's out here!

Barry's sister Ronnie and her awesome boyfriend Romi arrived (suprise to all except B and I) on May 1st in the afternoon! We went out for lunch and shopping at Dandelion Toys/Clothes Pony!! They were having 'Girls Night Out' event and there was face painting and good deals to be had. Adrian got a dino/dragon painted on his forearm which he proceded to lick! Adrian scored some cool things that he even got to pick out. He had a choice of finger puppets and repeatedly picked out the pig puppet so his auntie bought it for him. He also got a cow and new shoes and mom found a cute turtle bday card.

Then Barry and I finished decorating the house and shopping for the big bbq party on Saturday. A total of 27 kids and lots of adults could have shown up but not everyone did...Whew! We were prepared with party favors and cake and ice cream, soda punch and koolaid, a 1/4 barrel keg of Fat Tire beer, potato salad and hotdogs and steak and wings, chips and salsa, and people also brought side dishes like shrimp and cocktail sauce and deviled eggs! It was a feast to say the least! People starting arriving at 2pm and partied on till 9pm. Can you tell that Barry was celebrating his bday too? Even though there weren't banners for him he was part of the reason for the party! It was a huge success!

Adrian had not taken his afternoon nap although he did play in his crib for an hour on his party day so he was tired....BUT he did great! He loved all the attention and showed off for everyone. He let everyone hold him and didn't get scared when balloons popped or anything! He wanted to be held during the end of the day and went to bed at 7pm! People hung out and munched till the steak and wings were done about a couple hours then we ate, then opened presents, then had cake! Adrian sat on the train table and pulled toys and tissue paper out of his gift bags. The other kids at the party and I helped him open all his gifts! He has a great attention span and he was soaking up all the cheers and excitement! He got tons of really cool and useful toys and clothes including a water table, a turtle pool, a bubble machine (like we had at our wedding), a swing, and tons more!!! He is still exploring all his new toys! and I am still trying to figure out where to put everything.

When it was time for cake, I was setting it up and when I looked away Adrian stuck his hand in the frosting and starting eating it before we could even light the candle! So cute! He enjoyed his cake and I loved that we put his picture on it (yes I have no time in my life and ordered a professional cake at King soopers with his picture on it instead of making one). But we also used the same picture and had everyone sign a photo mat with green or blue around the picture for his 1st birthday. It is framed now and so cute! There were yellow smiley face balloons and blue Baby's 1st Birthday balloons filled with helium in the house and tied to the mailbox, as well as blown up 'Feliz Cumpleanos' balloons scattered around the house on the floor for the kids to play with! Adrian also got a helium police car balloon which is about 4 feet wide! He loves balloons!

On Sunday I hosted a mom's group at my house! Auntie Christie and Auntie Julie brought an awesome gift: a little boy chair!

BARRY

I can't believe it's Barry's Birthday tomorrow. I worked late today and I've been subpoened to court to testify tomorrow so that will be an 8am to 8pm day. Yikes! Then busy busy until Adrian's party and mom's group. I want to take B out somewhere special and I still haven't even decided on what to get him for his bday! AAAHHH!

Adrian's Wishlist

Instead of bringing a gift, bring a side dish if you can come to the bbq!
Adrian has mostly everything he needs but since people are asking.... He's wearing size 12 months now, he's in size 3 and almost 4 shoes. He is wearing size 3 diapers. He has a wishlist on Target.com. He loves books, playing outside, and cardboard boxes!

Tuesday

Adrian's B-day is coming up!!! So exciting! Adrian got 2 packages today in the mail....woo hoo!

He looks like such a big boy these days. He is babbling more sounds. He points at everything and waves. He loves his 'dada' and his 'gogs' and 'gats'. His 'ga' (grandpa tim) loves playing with him. He also knows to sign 'all done'. His mad cry is being used more often and you can tell when his mouth opens wide and square and he squeezes tears out and gets all red. It's also a very loud yell/cry. I hate when he uses this.
He LOVES playing outside and crawls around in the grass. He's so adventurous!!!
He went to bed before I got home today :( At least I visited him on break.
Adrian might be allergic/sensitive to cow's milk. We're holding off for a little while since he threw up the first 3 times he drank some.

Update

Adrian's party is set for Saturday May 2nd at 2pm. We're having a BBQ and asking people to bring a side dish. Adrian has many toys and clothes...so please bring a side dish to celebrate his 1st year instead of gifts. On Sunday May 3rd, I'm hosting mom's group from 12-2pm.

I spent the first night away from my baby on Thursday morning to Friday afternoon. He was so happy to see me after I got home and I was so happy to see him. He just laid on my shoulder (for about 10 minutes) and then he was off exploring again. That night we had the Realities for Children Triumph Award Dinner which I got dressed up for and attended. After that I went out with my coworkers till the wee hour of 1am. It was nice to get out and feel like a normal person again. Barry's a little traumatized by my social ways but he'll get used to it.

I pulled out some new toys for Adrian to play with-farmhouse, a toy radio, and remote control car. He was excited!!

1st night away from the babe. In denver at a training and 1st day is almost over. Training ended at 4pm. Now to survive the night. I think I can do it! Sounds like A had a good day. Hopefully he does great for Barry tonight.
The hotel is nice.. full fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, sink, table etc...nice room!

1st Easter

Easter was awesome! Our munchkin is so cute all dressed up. I made him a breakfast Easter basket with animal pancakes and banana and watermelon. He ate the monkey! Then we made noise shakers out of his eggs! After that we went to G'ma's for Easter lunch and then Longmont for Easter Dinner!

Mom's group was the day before and then we hung out with our friends Audra and Fabien in Estes Park!

Adrian's 1st Birthday Party will be on May 2nd Saturday at 2pm!
I know there will be some dissapointed people out there since Adrian happened to be born on the same time frame as the Estes Park Duck Race....so this means that not all of my family can be there :( We will plan something else such as also have a bbq on Sunday or do a family dinner sometime.

11 Months and Uncle's Birthday

Adrian was sitting in his bumbo chair watching Barry play frisbee with his neighbor friend, and no sooner had his forehead stopped a frisbee dead on. Poor guy's got his first shiner. Barry and Pat feel horrible but Adrian's just fine...don't worry...I got some good pictures so we'll always remember and know who to blame for any misbehavior and acting out in the future...hehehe.
